My most beloved place in UAE

A lot of my relatives and friends ask me what’s my favorite place in UAE or which place do I like the most in here. So, today I decided to post about it.

It’s their prayer halls.

When I was back in the Philippines, I never had a reason to pray in a different place since we had a masjid very close to my home (also I’m just at home all the time). So I never really had so much experience in going to prayer halls in malls or similar places.

However here whenever I have to go out for home duties I am at ease to know that the place I am about to go will not deprive me of my prayer and that I won’t have any reason to delay it as well.

Subhan’Allah, I am telling you this country keeps every prayer hall they have in the most beautiful way of maintenance in regards to cleanliness and odor.

My favorite is the one in Mega Mall in Sharjah (because it is the only mall I go here for grocery). You will truly appreciate how much effort they give in keeping these places clean and tidy. These places, they make you want to stay and just read the Qur’an and contemplate, such are the houses of Allah. Allahu’akbar.

It is so heartwarming too how people who keep them clean as soon as they see you they greet you with salaam and a beautiful smile and assist you in every way possible. – and what amazes me further is that you will see every kind of muslimah there, one who doesn’t wear hijab but prays, one who is old but prays, one who is with kids but prays, one who wears tight jeans but prays (the prayer halls provide prayer clothes as seen in the photo for the convenience of the people who want to pray), one who wears make up but prays – wallah who are we to judge people. subhan’Allah.

Every woman is just amazingly beautiful especially when they have imaan and every visit to these places reminds me of how beautiful my religion is. Alhamdulillah.

P.S. This photo was taken in another mall (not at Mega Mall), but one of the best. Ma sha Allah.

Heartwarming friendship

It’s fascinating to see Muslims coming out from the masjid knowing they have offered prayer and spent time with getting closer to Allah, but it is more fascinating and heartwarming when we see old Muslims do same.

They’re old, some may experiencing difficulties walking from their home to the masjid or even having pain yet they still choose to walk that reward towards Allah while some of us with good and healthy built body refuses to do same.

These two men caught my eyes just by looking at the way they were supporting each other as they walked past by me made me feel the deepness of their friendship for the sake of Allah, they may be brothers by blood or by deen but the most striking fact is that they inspire each other to be better Muslims – and you can see it just by them (amidst having reached old age) – still coming to the masjid to pray.

Indeed, the best way to inspire and give dawah to others is not always by the way you preach or talk about Islam but by your actions and deeds.

Allahumma barik lahu. May Allah preserve them. Amin

Everyday, I witness a beautiful scene in this country. This is my beautiful #Sharjah. Alhamdulillah.

Shaykh Zayed’s Masjid – Abu Dhabi

We had a trip to one of the most beautiful masajid in the world.

To those of you who want to visit this masjid, kindly wear loose clothes as well as a hijab (or a scarf to put over your head) so you don’t need to go through the hassle of going down and pick clothes to overlap what you are wearing.

It would be really nice if people (who don’t wear the hijab or abaya) come and visit the place to wear one since you know well you’ll be entering a masjid. It would be greatly appreciated and would be a beautiful sign of respect towards the Muslim community.

Also, to those who go on with tour guides, please observe silence once the prayer has commenced, you can continue your storytelling after the prayer has concluded.

Jazakallahu Khayran.

Surprise at a copying center in Sharjah

Salaam everyone! Hope everyone had a great eid!

Today, I was really surprised as I was looking for this art paper for 4 days now. I even was planning on going for a trip to Dubai Mall just so I could get this paper (even though I am still unsure if it’s available there).

I went to craft stores and even an art gallery shop here in Sharjah but they didn’t have it. So, I’ve made a du’a to Allah last night that somehow I could find it near a place where I live.

Then today, I went to this bookshop just near my home and along its street was a copying center! I saw some papers so I was like “Oh let me check if they have.” So I dragged my aunt and entered the place.

So, I started roaming around until I found the love of my life (lol). It was there! That copying center was like complete with everything that I was looking for and it wasn’t even an art store! Subhan’Allah!

Sometimes, Allah just helps and answers you in so many ways. I didn’t plan on looking for it today since I was keen on having that Dubai Mall trip but then after the books and few steps, Allah placed me where I could find it.

Alhamdulillah. Never lose hope even in these very minute things! Each passing day we get to learn and value Allah more in our lives if only we take things always in the most positive way.

As the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam said:

“Man should call upon Allah alone to provide for all his needs, so much so that even if a shoe-lace is broken, he should pray to Allah to provide a shoe-lace, and if he needs salt, he should beseech Allah to send it to him.”

My Mom’s (Allah yer7ama) name

I never knew how my mother’s name was spelled or written in Arabic until she went to buy something from this shop in Makkah, KSA.

I still remember how the old man was asking for my mom’s name so he could write it on the receipt. I was a kid, and I was too curious and the old man noticed this. So he gestured in a way that he made me see what he was writing.

He started to write my mother’s name Aaida, then he told me “this (pointing at the arabic name), your mother’s name”. Then my beautiful mother looked at me saying, “He says this is my name written in Arabic.”

I was amazed because I never knew Arabic that time and I never knew you can also write your name in Arabic. I used to understand that time that only Arabs can have their names in Arabic.

Then the old man went on explaining about my mother’s name, right there I understood how beautiful my mother’s name was.

Now, when I come to think and remember about this incident, I get these mixed emotions.

Returning. – my mother’s name carried this beautiful meaning.

The old man before we left told me that your mother will come back here and I remember how I argued so bad while saying, “No, we will not because we already bought what we needed.”

The old man laughed and said “Your mother in sha Allah will come back here in Makkah (for Umrah or Hajj).”

And my mother did, for Umrah. [She did return like how the old man said]

And even at the year she passed away, my mother returned to Allah with the intention of returning to Makkah to perform Hajj that coming year.

I’m sharing this story because I want all of you to realize that your mother is one of the greatest gift that Allah has given you. She is someone who is a proof of His Mercy and Love for you.

Don’t wait to be apart from her to realize this.

My mother, Allah yer7ama, how I miss you Mommy. Allah knows how I miss you.

Indeed, tears still fall from my eyes when you are remembered Mom, and the pain of separation still feels like the first day you departed from this world but also with each passing day I get to realize how grateful I am to have been blessed with such a great and irreplaceable woman like you to be my mother.

I shared this because in this country, the mothers are well taken care of, so much respect is given by brothers and sisters here for and to their mothers. No wonder this place is so blessed. ma sha Allah.

Do’s and Don’ts

I was in search of this calligraphy museum for more than a week but I think it disappeared the particular days I went and visited the nearby museum – I just couldn’t find it!

Seriously, I tried it for two times. First one, with my two lovely aunts and the second one with my beautiful friend who has now become a family (shout out to my beautiful Sabah) – but failure has succumbed me. Alhamdulillah.

The second time we tried these booklets were handed over to us. I didn’t bother reading it because we were still in search of the calligraphy place. When I got home, I somehow flipped the pages and I read this particular page on it which sent me a beautiful safe feeling and respect for their government and rulers.

Tip: Obey the rules, and read those booklets they do give and hand over to you! The more you are aware of their rules, the more living life here becomes easier for you.

A du’a answered

You might think that there is nothing special in this photo.

But for me, there is and I want to tell you what it is to remind you and make you reflect just how it made me.

I remember exactly 13 years ago when I first encountered seeing a name of a sahabi in one of the streets in Makkah or somewhere in Saudi, I can’t seem to remember the exact place but it was during the time we went for hajj. I was little back then and I barely knew who he was.

When we got back and I started learning about the lives of the companions of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam (and I know anyone who would study and learn about them will develop love towards them), I started to make this du’a that Allah grants me the opportunity again to see something similar or that He makes me live in a place that makes me remember them (the sahabah) – like seeing their names as streets or something like that.

Today, after exactly 13 years, Allah answered that du’a of mine. Indeed, there is khair in waiting and there is such an indescribable beautiful feeling when you finally see your du’a being answered by Allah. Allahu’akbar.

Wallah, I only asked Allah to see something similar but He gave me so much more. O Allah, forgive us for we have been greatly ungrateful.

Let me remind you that your du’a will be answered, no matter how long the waiting will be, never lose hope and keep asking Allah for Allah answers, Allah responds!

Indeed, you may have been experiencing or having something that others have been making du’a to Allah for many years, in this case – living in a Muslim country. Appreciate and be grateful, O slaves of Allah.

Coffee at Museum

After going around and checking out the museum, the people there would offer you some dates, water or their authentic coffee. – which was very nice and hospitable.

It made me remember the story of this Ansari man who welcomed the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam, Abu Bakr and ‘Umar Radiyallahu Anhum to his abode when the three were looking for food and were hungry.

The amount of hospitality that Ansari man showcased to them was just sincerely beautiful and what makes it amazing is that this was just one of the hundreds of stories that narrates the hospitality that the Muslims of our early generations have embodied.

When you enter the museum, you’ll understand how much great of an influence Islam has given to the history of this nation – and one of the best ones (hospitality) is waiting for you at the end of the tour in that very museum.

P.S. I really love the pattern on that cute cup. (Now I’m thinking if I should design a tableware collection)

A Visit to Heart of Sharjah Discovery Centre

This amazes me, on so many levels.

Maybe to others, it is not new but coming from a nonMuslim country (Catholic country to be exact), this is something that we do not see everyday nor does the strong implementation of such is present.

It’s so heartwarming that they put up these inplaces where people from all walks of life come over – tourist spots or something in that sense.

It showcases how much great of an influence Islam has in this country.

Wallah, a simple act of smiling can go far so how much more with these brochures that invite you or encourage you to learn more about this beautiful religion, Al Islam.

Indeed, now I understand how a heart of a Muslim will always yearn to be in a country where Shariah is the highest law, where Islam is properly propagated.

I also realize how pitiful it is to talk ill about these Muslim countries and criticize them without living in such countries even for a day.
